The Grumpy Cat

This cat species is more of the loner type. The cats prefer to stay alone, unless mating or caring for offspring. It is helpful to them that Pallas cats live in low density, "with only as many as 8 to 11 cats being found within 100 sq. km" (Pallas's Cat - Facts, Diet, Habitat & Pictures on Animalia.bio).  The Pallas cat species are most active at dusk and dawn. This is also the time in which their prey is also active so it is the perfect time to hunt as much as possible. There was a study done over two years in the south of Mongolia by PICA (Pallas's Cat International Conservation Alliance) which studied the activity patterns of Pallas cats throughout the day, the data shows that the wildcats were awake and active most during the hours their prey is active as well. The two photos below, provided from the PICA study, shows the circadian rhythm of Pallas cats tracking their active periods throughout the day and night (Pica Project Report - Pallascats.org)

When scared, the wildcats try their best to lay low and still in order to camouflage. The mix of brown and black colors on their coats allow for great hiding which is a big advantage since they have compact bodies and short legs meaning they cannot run quickly.
